"Swifts class has been busy growing vegetables in our Early Years garden this year. The Reception children were thrilled when it was time to harvest our potato's, beans and garlic! They have been diligently tending to their vegetables and ensuring to water them regularly in the recent warm weather. As we have been discussing the differences between healthy and unhealthy choices we decided to make a 'bean and potato salad'. The children have had a lot of practice using cooking utensils and were very sensible using the child friendly knives to cut the potato's. They used their phonics skills to read the recipe and were able to count the potato's and beans and discuss simple fractions to halve the lemons and garlic cloves. They all thoroughly enjoyed their food and finished every last bit!"
